JENI AMOS UX DESIGNER

I take problems and turn them into solutions that work for the people who need them.

As a Lead UX Designer, I have worked with a range of clients, delivering exceptional digital products and services, that solve real problems.

I like people and want to know how they tick. I want to hear about their problems and think about how to alleviate issues. Through user research and user experience design methods, I help discover user needs and translate them into solutions to meet those needs. I am passionate about creating user-centred designs that are both functional and fulfil the needs of the user entirely.

End-to-end user experience covers user research, user journeys, mapping, analysis, persona creation, stakeholder management, interaction design, systems, content design, prototyping, user testing, to name but a few.

Hello

I'm Jeni, I'm a problem solver who cares about crafting products and experiences that are useful, useable, accessible and delightful.

With over 10 year industry experience, my passion is solving real problems for real people.  I often describe my role as a UX Designer, as being part psychologist and part carpenter: listen to people, empathise, then get out your tool box and start to build something.

(nee Jeni Rodger, and if there were one thing I could change would be the service design in changing your name after marriage; the cascades of difference process for every service, every loyalty card, not to mention official document. It is laborious and patriarchal and I would love to see change.)

User research

Users come first.

User experience starts with real people. User research is the foundation of a successful outcome. Through interviews, workshops, usability testing, and data analysis, it is vital to gain insights in order to create the seamless, user-centred experiences that I am passionate about.

Government Design Services

Services for public benefit.

I have extensive experience in using the GDS gov.uk design systems to create services that make a real difference to real people.

I have worked in several departments, within the governement framework, with success in GDS assessments, creating user-led end-to-end digital services. I am thrilled to have been part of the process to launch services that make a difference to people.

User testing

Ask the people.

I aim to deliver things that are more efficient, simpler and easier to use.

By asking questions, challenging assumptions and the status quo. Don't take things for granted, challenge stakeholders and ask questions. Listen to the answers and make sense of the responses.

Make, try and test. Then learn, make try and test again. And again. There is no better way to deliver something valuable than to work closely with the users.

Accessibility

Design for everyone.

Accessibility in design ensures that digital products and websites are usable by everyone, free of restrictions. I want to ensure there are inclusive, barrier-free experiences. Working to WCAG, I am deeply committed to accessibility, in awareness and practical outcomes.

UX methodology

Dance with me.

From user research and wireframing to prototyping and usability testing, the methodology sets the guidance for intuitive, user-centric solutions, ensuring each project delivers a seamless and engaging experience.

The UX design process is like a well-organised dance. It's all about taking steps, refining, and shaping a product's user experience until it's just right.

BSL

BRITISH SIGN LANGUAGE L1

Being able to communicate and understand people is so incredibly important. Sign language acts as a tool to communicate and interact with people. Whether you're deaf, hard of hearing, struggle with the English language, or communicate perfectly well, sign language creates an open line of communication between all groups of people.
